Throughout the Pacific Northwest there are 38 Nez Perce historical sites with White Bird Battlefield being one of them. Boomer and I visited the battlefield on our trip down Idaho Highway 95, which is located just south of Grangeville Idaho.
The approach to Lewiston Idaho is quite impressive via Idaho Highway 95. As you crest over the hill you are greeted by an extensive overlook of the town. The highway zigzags down the mountainside while taking you to the valley floor. You start to think to yourself maybe you should visit more often. And then it hits you… the smell. It is unforgettable. If you have been to Lewiston you know what I am talking about. If not, consider bracing yourself as the local paper mill fills the valley with an unpleasant odor, that only logically can be dealt with by bracing yourself 🙂
Below is the itinerary that I used for our Fall 2013 road trip through Idaho, Utah and Montana. Over the next few postings I will share stories from our travels. Be sure to check back often so you don’t miss any of our adventures!
Captain Ron is a favorite movie of mine and my family’s – we’ve probably watched it 100 times – or at lease I have! It has one of my most favorite movie lines with Mary Kay Place’s character saying to Martin Short’s character “we’ll be spontaneous when we have time.”
If you know me or have seen at least some of my blog postings about trip planning you will notice there is not much room for “stumbling on to the next great thing” while Boomer and I truck off to the next spot.
