Whether you believe the Greeks were the first to make Pizza or if it was the Italians, one thing is clear pizza is well-loved around the world. I decided to make a pizza from scratch but with a simple twist to the crust to keep with my beer theme flavored foods as of late. Beer pizza crust.

Beer Pizza Crust Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 (12 oz) beer
Olive Oil

I decided to make a chicken pesto pizza. I started with preparing the chicken first as it would take the most time. I cut up two chicken breasts into small bite size pieces and pan cooked them. I used a lemon pepper seasoning as I thought that would well with the pesto themed pizza.

I next started on the dough. I mixed the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium size bowl. I then added the beer. The dough was pretty sticky so I moved it to a lightly covered floured counter top and kneaded until it became less sticky.

I greased a cookie sheet and spread out the dough as evenly as possible. The recipe calls for a light brushing of olive oil after you spread the dough out. Since I was using pesto as my sauce I forewent the olive oil as the pesto has plenty of olive oil in it.

I spread out the pesto and added slices of mozzarella cheese, the chicken pieces and sun-dried tomatoes and slid the pizza into a 450 degree oven for 12 minutes. Once the timer went off I pulled out of the oven a delightful pizza. The crust was flavorful and the pesto, mozzarella and chicken were perfectly melted together. This recipe will go on the repeat list for many years to come. It was quick and easy thanks to not having to use any yeast.  Best of all  it was inexpensive to make!

I made this pizza again with a topping variation of marinara sauce, pepperoni, green peppers, ground beer and cheddar cheese. It was also delicious!

Love the idea behind your blog, I have a dog, too, though he doesn’t often travel with me (altho I did bring him back to the UK from the Canary Islands).
I love beer, also, but have usually drunk it all by the time it comes to cooking 😉
