Perhaps you remember the commercials from the 1990’s, of a Sasquatch wondering around the Canadian forests with a case of Kokanee beer in his hand? Or maybe you don’t remember them, or believe me that you should always be on the lookout for the Sasquatch while in Canada. Check out that sign. The Canadians aren’t just going to put up this sign for no reason 😉 He’s gotta be out there!

My dad and I hiked near the Kokanee Glacier a couple of times over the past few years. He went for the stunning beauty of the area and I went for the possibility of finding the Sasquatch. That and I wanted to capture a funny photo of me standing on the Kokanee Glacier, drinking a Kokanee beer. Funny right? But alas I couldn’t do it. I was and probably never will be physically fit enough to hike up to the actual glacier. It’s 1800 meters to the top (5905 feet) which is a lot for this chubby kid to hike up to!
I was able to admire the park from a lower elevation, where I took lots of photos from where I could hike to, which I will share here:

I never found the Sasquatch while in Glacier Provincial Park and until I do, this photo will have to suffice:

Or this one… the Sasquatch seems to have a familiar face!

I found your post on the Sunday Traveler link-up. Beautiful photos! Despite Sasquatch roaming about, it looks serene and peaceful to me. -Heather, Life of a Traveling Navy Wife
It is a very peaceful place. I’m sure if I found the Sasquatch we would have enjoyed the area while splitting a Kokanee beer!
What a fab area, I love the close up and your caption made me LOL! Big thanks for linking up with us for #SundayTraveler again.
Yeah I was a little afraid of the marmot as he continued to get closer to us. He’s got such scary looking claws!
The marmot is so cute! 🙂 Wouldn’t have been that happy about bumping into the sasquatch though! 😀
Yes I am sure seeing the Sasquatch would be scary! But it would give me one heck of a story 🙂
Gorgeous pics! That marmot is too funny!
thanks! He was pretty funny… I’m just glad he was friendly!
Haa, sweet pics 😉
Sasquatch hunting sounds fun – particularly if he’s providing the beers 😉
I sure hope it’s providing… otherwise it’s just mean walking around with all those beers and not sharing!
Well, disappointed you didn’t find Sasquatch but at least you did find one curious furry critter:)
Yes the marmot was very friendly! I’m thinking the Sasquatch might be a little shy and that’s why we did not find him 🙂
That’s a great sign. Yes, the Sasquatch must be real if they put up a warning sign. Do they have Sasquatch boxes, like bear boxes, where you can stash your beer while you hike so the Sasquatch don’t steal them? I think if you drank a case of beer, you’d be able to convince yourself you could get to the top of that glacier.
Haha! Yes I’m sure if I drank an entire case of beer the hike might not be the only thing I could convince myself of.
Haha how funny! Love the statue and the photo op 🙂 The lake is such a beautiful colour.
I love glacial fed lakes – the minerals in the water always give the water such an unbelievable teal coloring!
Gorgeous photos! Very inspiring…I think I want to go hiking there!
You will love it there 🙂
Hahaha, you really made me laugh with a Sasquatch story. Kokanee is a beautiful park. Wonderful photos, Brittany!
thanks! It is a very pretty spot.
Those marmots are adorable!
They are, aren’t they! Aside from the scary claws I would have loved to taken one home with me!
Awesome. Love the photos. I am based out of Vancouver and have been meaning to get that way for some Sasquatch sighting myself!

You totally should – there is also a fun (and free!) ferry near by that takes you across Kootenay Lake – it’s stunning!
Gorgeous photos and view! I love that statue too – I’m adding this to my ‘park list’ 🙂 Thanks for linking up to the #SundayTraveler 🙂
thank you! It is a great park to visit 🙂
